N E W T O M A R K E T - J U S T F R O M E S T A T E! Antique oil on canvas painting by FAMOUS BRITISH ARTIST WALTER FIELD. The artist, famous by his skillfully executed landscapes with well- drawn figures, worked mostly in oil. Between 1856 and 1901 he exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts among the others. The gorgeous painting depicts a colorful landscape. With a stream, flowing among the rocks, trees, a bridge and a gentleman on the right side, artfully painted in great detail. The painting is signed by the artist on the left, approximately 8" up from the bottom: "W.
Comes from a private collection. In original gold leaf frame, ready to be displayed, is as seen in the photos. The painting is large and heavy.
Painting size measured outside of the frame is approx. 30.25" tall and 24" wide. Is in good condition and ready to be displayed.The original frame is in good condition with some signs of age and few small dings, it may use some of TLC if desired. The back of the canvas shows that the painting has undergone some professional restoration with parches, not noticeable from the front when displayed (please see photos).
