Vintage Willard Borow Oil Painting/Mural, Philadelphia Mid Century, Town Scene
Vintage Willard Borow Oil Painting/Mural, Philadelphia Mid Century, Town Scene. A Mid Century era oil painting on canvas by the nationally recognized Philadelphia area artist / muralist, Willard Borow. This painting was originally a mural that was affixed to the wall of a Pottsville, Pennsylvania restaurant. Willard Borow was born on July 7, 1918 and he died on October 9, 1988. He lived in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. He is best known for his murals. The painting measures 26.25" wide and 45.5" long. It depicts a town scene in beautiful colors. The artist's signature is prominent in the lower right hand corner. Because the painting had been affixed to a wall, there is some adhesive and / or thin drywall or plaster on the back of the painting.
There is one small tear on the top right side and two tiny holes on the top corners, it may have been pinned to something at some point. The top and bottom edges of the canvas are curling but this would be remedied by framing. The painting could also use a cleaning, there is surface soil / staining on some areas, but the overall appearance of the painting is beautiful. The colors are very bright.
