Vintage Art Signed Bill Iles'Camel Cigarettes' Advert Original Pastel Painting
Bill Iles is perhaps best known for his strong impact on the artists' community of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Iles dedicated about 30 years to the Department of Visual Arts at McNeese State University and has since maintained relationships with many artists in Southern Louisiana. Much of his current work is inspired by the woodlands of Louisiana. This piece is particularly unique.
His more recent pieces sell for thousands. It was part of an art exhibition at Auburn University. It is an original pastel painting featuring the Camel Cigarette logo. It truly looks like an artist proof; at the base of the artwork, there are sketches and color color palette. It is signed by Iles on the bottom right corner where the initial sketch is (photo 3). Specific information on the artwork and the artist is taped to the back mat (photo 5). Condition: Very good vintage condition. I found this piece in an old cardboard portfolio at an estate sale; I don't think the artwork was stored properly. There are patches of noticeable discoloration/light wrinkling around the edges of the print (photos 8-12).Some smudges appear to be pastels used by the artist while drawing. The edges of the print have some discoloration and wrinkling e. Photos 11-12, but these issues could be hidden in a frame.
