Large, Colorful Vintage Friendship Wreath Antique Quilt, Signed & Dated 1949

This OUTSTANDING cotton friendship wreath / crown of thorns quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with hand embroidered signatures and dates (different days in 1949) in the various blocks. Interestingly, all of the background white pieces in the quilt are squares. It measures 90" X 102" and is in excellent, never washed condition, with the occasional small age spot and no wear.

The hand quilting is exceptional, with quilting around the piecework and in circular, deco, swag, pinwheel, and other designs in the background, all at an even 9-10 stitches to the inch. The back and hand stitched binding are white and the batting is thin. The quilt came out of St.
