Superb circa 1670 tavern interior scene with the peasants crowded around a game of backgammon as a man keeps score on a beam and a maid brings in food.Typical of Teniers painting and uniquely similar to a different composition that sits in the National Gallery. No visible signature however is needs a light clean and hasn't been removed from its frame since it was acquired. Measurements: 90xm x 65cm framed approx.
