Antique Walter or William Engelhardt Signed Mountain Landscape Oil Painting

This is a nice antique California / Illinois artist William or Walter Engelhardt signed oil on canvas mountain landscape painting. Both William & Walter Engelhardt were active during the same era and lived in the same area. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with it having had a repair & touch up seen in pic 9 and the repair is seen in pic 12 and it comes exactly as shown.

The frame measures 41 1/2" x 29 1/2" and the sight is 35 1/2" x 23 1/2". The younger brother of John Rettig, Martin was well known as a painter and a Rookwood Pottery decorator. As a painter, he specialized in floral pieces. Rettig studied with Duveneck and later was considered to be an authority on the works of the master.
