This is a suspenseful and action-packed Antique Vintage Wild Southwest Western Cowboys & Horses Oil Painting on canvas, depicting a band of 19th c. Wild West outlaws storming into a saloon called The Hoffman Bar. The group arrives on horseback, with several shooting off or raising their guns, with the leader of the men attempting to enter the establishment door while still atop his horse. It is a very frenzied and interesting scene and captures a literal slice of life from the time of the lawless 19th c. This work was acquired in California, and may depict an event in that state or somewhere else such as Arizona, Texas, etc.
This work is signed: S. Versent in the lower right corner. I could not find any information on this artist, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? Approximately 31 1/2 x 43 1/2 inches including frame. Actual artwork is approximately 24 x 36 inches.
Good condition for age and storage, with mild scuffing and edge wear to the original period frame, and some light soiling and staining to the back of the canvas, which is not visible from the front please see photos. Acquired from an old estate in Los Angeles, California.This piece would make a lovely addition to any man cave, Southwestern adobe home, or in the home of any John Wayne fan.
