Antique Painting of a Pastoral Scene with Cows/Oxen by P. Schouten (1860-1922)

Escription of item for sale. Paul is the half brother of the also well known painter Henry Schouten. Paul specialized in paintings of dogs, cattle, horses and other animals. This large painting is an unusually well executed example of his work with good detail and rich colors. It is in very good antique condition, tight on its stretchers and with only very minor nicks and scratches.

In addition, the gilded wood and gesso frame is unusually high quality and in very good antique condition. The frame is from the same period as the painting and is most likely original. The frame has been regilded and has only a few minor points of damage typical of antique frames. Dimensions : 40" wide, 29" tall and 3 thick in its frame.
