Antique LARGE Military Folk Trench Art Lighted Bomber Airplane WW2 War Bird Lamp
Antique/Vtg WW2 War Bird Bomber Folk Art Light/Lamp, Atomic Aviation, HUGE! This was built with all kinds of antique and vintage parts into a mamoth sized ww2 war bird bomber tribute. There are a totall of 14 lights covering this piece all operated by a push button on/off switch at the top.
There is a huge ball turret mounted into the nose of the fuesealage made of a hard composite material with a light mounted inside of it. There are a total of 12 lights that give the plane the look of a propeller and one light in the top back center. The body of the plane is a heavy gauge chrome steel housing and the base is some sort of an antique art deco polished thick metal aluminum plate with black design embossed panels. The back of the plane is accessed with a very unique metal panel custom made to fit, and large magnetic latches that firmly hold it in place but very convenient to open if needed for servicing.The maze of wiring is encredible and very well done. This lamp is very large in presence/ magnitude on this particular piece.
This light is mounted on a very heavy duty mount that actually spins 360 degrees. You can literally move the light any angle horizontally effortlessly. There is a nose art pinup lady riding a bomb with the phrase " Date for tonight". The condition of this is as you see it, there is chrome imperfections throughout with a few very small tings in the housing.
Some speckling and fading here and there but actually makes it look even more realistic to a war ravaged bomber. The base has ageing spots scattered throughout.Everything on the light is heavy duty, even the bombs are metal. The ball turret is sturdy made of a hard composite type material, the gun barrels i'd be carefull around, they are a hard composit as well but could possible get broken if hit hard enough I think. There are some slight seperations where the barrels go into the turret but complety solid and permently afixed into place. This is a hand built piece of folk art with a function and by far one of the most unique i have ever seen. One thing is for sure and that is that theres not another on the face of the earth.
And it would be an impossability for someone to see it and not be stunned and ask about it. It a marvalous tribute to the war birds of ww2. The size is very large and swivels 360 drgrees so you may want to double the circumfrence when considering where this will go. Measures 18 1/2" tall x 13 1/4" in diameter(times 2 if you spin it) the light is 17 deep from back to the tip of the guns. Lastly the base is 14 1/2 in diameter and keeps the light extremely stable with no worry of it tipping over.
