This is an antique Japanese large sake jug (tokkuri) from the late Meiji Era c. It is all hand made and fired at high temperatures for lasting durability. It has the name of the sake company and their specialty sake written in black glaze. This large ceramic sake jug measures about 7 1/2" in diameter by 14 1/2" tall (19 x 36 cm) and in noting the wear at the lip and spout (see pictures 8 and 10) it remains in good antique condition.
It is high fire glazed both inside and out. Great as a stand alone piece of art with calligraphy or for use as a vase with a century of history. It weighs about 9 lbs.
