The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time. Fine pair of antique imperial Russian watercolours of a general with a large red nose and moustache circa 1910. Each watercolour is signed with the artists initials and each has an identical poem written in pen on the back in Cyrillic.
